Lucía Sánchez Hidalgo

Everyone remembers the books they loved as a kid, especially the children’s book illustrations that brought them to life. Lucía Sánchez Hidalgo dedicates her life to creating visual narratives for youth and children about fauna and flora and every-day things. Her signature children´s illustration style is characterized by the use of rich textures, and delicate tones and hues. These help her tell her playful fables about the circus, children´s adventures, anthropomorphized animals, birds, snakes, and insects.

She comes from Valencia, Spain, and finds inspiration in animated films by Ghibli, Disney, and Dreamworks studios, and in the illustrated books by Tony DiTerlizzi, Alessandro Barbucci, Benjamin Lacombe, Nuria Tamarit, Luna Pan, and Alba Ballesta. In 2022, Lucía celebrated her debut in the Picasso Museum exhibition in Barcelona, Spain, together with Exquisite Workers.
